Descend on a one of a kind, Michelin Plate awarded Thai fine dining experience at Black Ginger. The grand restaurant located at The Slate features a unique concept and memorable photo opportunities for those travelling to Phuket. As we traversed down the narrow glowing path we were instantly in awe of the flaming torches adorning the calm lagoon. The inviting staff greeted us from a floating raft and invited us to step aboard. The calm and delightful ride allows you to immerse in the tranquil and ambient surroundings and our children loved watching the tiki torches and steam rising from the serene lagoon. Upon arriving at the secluded restaurant you feel transported from the resort to another world. We loved our corner both overlooking the outdoor terrace as the sun set into the sky. Our waitress eagerly introduced the tempting menu full of elevated Thai favourites and a plethora of fragrant and authentic flavours. Highlights of our meal included the “Kratong Thong” Diced Chicken with Thai spices and Sweet Corn in Golden Baskets, the “Bua Thod” Crispy Cha-Pla Leaves in Turmeric Batter served with Prawns, the “Tom Som Pla” Phuket Traditional Fish Soup flavoured with Tamarind and Lemongrass, the “Gaeng Pou Bai Cha Plu” Crab Meat Curry with fragrant Cha-plu Leaves accompanied by Rice Noodles and the “Goong Makam” Prawns braised with Sweet and Sour Tamarind Sauce. Each bite was accented by delicate textures and meticulous presentation. Black Ginger is a must dine spot if you’re in search of an unforgettable meal and a luxurious way to sample fresh Thai fare. They are only open in the evenings so make sure to book ahead in order to secure a seat at this intimate and elegant dining destination.
