Mercato, opened in California Tower by Chef Jean-Georges of Michelin starred fame, is the new trendy Italian hot spot where you can get innovative fare created from fresh ingredients. We loved the dark, ambient setting and sophisticated decor perfect for a date night. The menu is full of Italian favourites, served in a vibrant and chic manner. We recommend sharing a few appetizers and loved the freshly sliced Hamachi with Crushed Olives and Dill, the creamy Homemade Ricotta with Strawberry, Olive Oil and Grilled Bread, and the refreshing and beautifully displayed Endive and Sugar Snap Pea Salad with Parmesan dressing and herbs. For mains the indulgent Crispy Beef Short Rib with Polenta Fries and a Smoked Chili Glaze was delicious and is a definite must order, and we also recommend the tantalizing Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli and the mouth-watering Black Truffle, Three Cheeses and Farm Egg Pizza. Make sure to ask the sommelier for the ideal wine to pair with your meal from their extensive and well curated wine list. An ideal spot if you are looking to share a delicious and innovative take on classic Italian fare. We look forward to trying more of their menu soon.
