A local cooked food market is not somewhere you would expect European food to pop up, but ABC Kitchen serves up a great menu offering delicious produce and great flavours. We were slightly nervous a cooked food centre would take away from the ambiance of a nice meal out, but ABC kitchen manages to create their own little haven complete with checkered table clothes, classic settings, and exemplary service. We started with fresh oysters which I highly recommend and were very reasonable at only $40 hkd a piece (market price). If you are a salad nicoise fan their smoked tuna served with a perfectly poached egg is a must try. For the mains I highly recommend their signature dish, the suckling pig. The skin was crispy and the meat was juicy, rich, and served with some of the best purple cabbage I have ever tasted. For all those gnocci fans out there you will be pleased with the chorizo and sharp Parmesan dish which is perfect for sharing. Their menu is seasonal, but a few signature dishes always remain. I wouldn’t say it’s a classic European experience, but definitely serving up delicious food, utilizing the fresh produce this city can provide. Perfect for a fun meal with friends, and as they are a private kitchen feel free to byob!
