Sichuan food is something I discovered after moving to Hong Kong and have a fast growing addiction towards. I used to fear spicy food and the sight of chillies would make me shy away from a dish. This can be normal behaviour in England, but here people embrace chillies. The more the better, and you can get it in everything from hotpot to sweet cocktails and an uncountable number of dipping sauces. Sichuan food is one of those cuisines where the sight is much more frightening than the reality of the taste. I love the chili laden chicken, freshly marinated noodles, and fish and meats sizzling in hot oil. SieJie offers the perfect variety of homemade Sichuan dishes, served family style for you and your party. It’s only $280 per person so the more people you bring the more dishes you get to try. Ordering is simple and the staff are friendly and helpful despite the busy venue. My favourite dish was the Sichuan cold noodles and you must try their fried prawns. It’s BYOB so bring friends, wine, and an eager appetite.
