The Woods brings the art of the cocktail to a whole new level in their new concept bar. Separated into two spaces, they offer “The Lounge Area” where guests can enjoy classic cocktails with their signature twists and their “Prix-Fix Bar” where a four course tasting menu takes you on an extraordinary cocktail journey. We decided on our first visit to go for the Prix-Fix option and sample the amazing cocktail experience with their founder, Victoria. During this four course “meal” the cocktails are the star of the show with delicious culinary delights served to enhance the flavour of the drink itself. We started with the Gin Basil ‘Smash’ served in a delicate circular ice cube which you smash open yourself to release the refreshing concoction. The delicate and summery taste fused perfectly with the watermelon and feta served alongside the cocktail. Second on the menu is their famous Bacon Bourbon paired with Bone Marrow. The cocktail was smoky, smooth with just the right amount of bacon scent. We were obsessed with the perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth bone marrow which tasted perfect in between sips of the strong bourbon drink. To end the second course the bone marrow bone is used as a luge for you to sample a shot of the extraordinary bacon bourbon. After the heaviest course off the menu, we were ready for dessert which came in the playful form of candy floss. Their Absinthe floss paired with meringue and cucumber jam was milky and delicious without being overpowering with absinthe flavour. We loved the accents of sugar and light meringue and the interactive aspect of their serving style. No culinary meal is complete without a digestif and for this we were treated to a warm jasmine and gin tea infusion. The tea was fragrant, flavourful and paired deliciously with the addition of gin. Overall the entire prix-fix menu was a culinary treat and a feast for both our eyes and taste buds. Everything was meticulously presented, utilizing fresh ingredients, and it was evident much thought and skill had been put into creating each combination. The perfect spot for an impressive date or unique night out with friends. We can’t wait to return and try more of their delicious cocktails.
