One Star House Party is one of the most innovative dining experiences we’ve seen hit Hong Kong in a long time. After successful pop up restaurants across the U.S. including one hosted in an AirBnb in NYC, they have relocated to HK for the year. The urban foodie concept is brought to us by Chef James Sharman, former Chef at Noma, and his talented team, who have taken up the space at Sheung Wan’s industrial Printing Press and are hosting nightly “dinner parties” with a menu that changes monthly. Instead of the usual restaurant reservation and classic menu, each diner must book their ticket online and are served a menu specially curated by the talented chefs. The chefs circulate the tables showing their passion for each dish and the unique way every course was created. We loved their take on Pizza featuring homemade Ricotta cheese, the fragrant Squid cooked by the warmth from a pouch of sand with Barley and Kelp, the light and flavorful Trout with Pea Puree, and indulgent melt in your mouth Beef Shortrib with Miso Smoked Pumpkin and Pickled Pine Nuts. The dessert featured tart burnt citrus served on burning lemon tree leaves and we couldn’t resist the Cammomile Infused Ricotta with Bee Pollen. Each course was exciting and innovative using fresh and high quality produce and true culinary skill. Chef Sharman walked us through the process of how they created the menu during a road trip across the USA giving an engaging story to our dinner. A perfect way to spend a night with friends who are looking for more than just your usual night out. Don’t forget it’s BYOB, so bring a few bottles of your favourite wine and enjoy a dinner to remember.
