No foodie visit to Yilan is complete without a mouthwatering meal at Red Lantern. Located in the luxurious Silks Place hotel, we were instantly drawn to the modern Chinese design and welcoming atmosphere. We have heard plenty of praise for their Cherry Valley Roast Duck so we knew it would be at the top of our list for must try meals. The juicy and fragrant duck was as good, if not better, that we had anticipated, featuring of the most flavourful, crispy, and unique Duck Nigiri we have ever tasted. Their Cherry Valley Roasted Duck is served five ways including in crisp and fresh Lettuce Cups, tender duck and skin wrapped in fragrant Scallion Pancakes, as a delicious and decadent Double-Boiled Duck Bone Soup, and in a combination of Stewed Duck Tongue, Wings and Flippers. Definitely a must order when dining at Red Lantern. Other favourite dishes of the night included the unique and addictive Deep Fried King Oyster Mushrooms with Salted Egg, the creamy and indulgent Baked Gaojha with Cheese, Shrimp and Squid, and the local Luodong Marinated Tomatoes in Plum Sauce. The combination of traditional Chinese fare and local delicacies was a great mix on the menu and all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Perfect for lively family dinners or celebrations with your friends.
