Langkawi is a stunning island full of nature and wildlife. Even within the Four Seasons Langkawi you can encounter monkeys and only a short boat drive away is the UNESCO-endorsed Langkawi Geopark boasting one of the most diverse tropical eco systems. Four Seasons offers private Mangrove Tours where you are given the opportunity to get up close and personal with the wildlife and see them in their natural habitat. We loved the educational and enlightening tour which gave us so much insight into the beauty of Langkawi’s mangroves. Our knowledgeable and friendly guide Anwar was ideal to lead this tour, with a great sense of humour and an immense familiarity with the mangroves and it’s surroundings. Not only did he inform us about the animals, but we were given great information about responsible tourism and the detrimental effects of feeding the wildlife and disrupting their homes. Anwar took us to see large groups of monkeys, who curiously gazed upon us while swimming and playing and we witnessed eagles sweep across the blue skies and perch on high treetops showing off their great beauty. In the water there were walking fish, and we even learned the life cycle of a mangrove tree and what makes it so unique. The highlight was driving slowly into the narrow paths of the forested river in search of the elusive and dangerous pit viper. Anwar made sure to assure our safety and had us completely at ease while we were given the opportunity to see the sleeping snake. A truly unforgettable experience for us and our children, and something we highly recommend to all guests and families who visit Langkawi.
