World famous Sushi Zo has opened in stylish Tai Kwun and is serving an unforgettable omakase dinner. Founded by Osaka-born and Tokyo-trained Chef Keizo Seki, the authentic restaurant has acclaimed recognition in worldwide outlets including Tokyo and Bangkok, as well as Los Angeles and New York, both of which have been awarded a Michelin Star. The Hong Kong branch offers a traditional 18 course omakase dining experience featuring fresh ingredients flown in daily from Japan. Heading the HK kitchen is Head Chef Fumio Azumi who is both skilled and dedicated to showcasing the true art of Japanese sushi. There is a deep emphasis on curating the right ingredients from the market as well as an intricate process to ensure the right textures and flavour in the rice and fish. Highlights of the mouthwatering meal were the delicate sashimi of seasonal Kuromutsu sourced directly from Shizuoka on the South Coast of Japan, the melt in your mouth otoro from the seas off Nagasaki, and the creamy and decadent trio of Uni sampler. We also loved the melt-in-your-mouth Golden Eye Snapper, sweet Snow Crab, and indulgent minced tuna hand roll with crispy seaweed. Make sure to have the chef recommend his favourite sake to pair with the meal and savour every single bite. The restaurant only houses 12 seats which makes the dining experience intimate and engaging. We loved chatting with the friendly and informative chefs who expertly presented each course. Sushi Zo is a must try for those craving a truly memorable and authentic omakase experience in Hong Kong.
