137 Pillars House, set in historic and charming Chiang Mai, is a tranquil oasis tucked away from the crowds and busy streets of the bustling city. Despite being close to many of Chiang Mai’s sights, the Old Town, street food vendors, and vibrant markets, you’ll be enveloped in peaceful five star luxury as soon as you set foot in the entrance of the grand property. The sprawling grounds incorporate a serene swimming pool surrounded by lush greenery, a decadent world class spa, exquisite fine dining, and luxury suites. A beautiful teak wood building stands as the original house and has been delicately restored to its original Lanna colonial beauty. Built in the late 1800’s it was the original headquarters of Borneo Company Limited and was later chosen by the owners as a peaceful respite in the frenetic northern capital city.

We loved the stylish details of the elegant and traditional interiors and dining in the intimate dining room which houses award winning, Palette. Days were spent exploring the alluring grounds, enjoying coffee beneath the large trees gazing at the teak house, and refreshing swims in the inviting pool. Our David Fleming Macfie Suite boasted a plush four poster king size bed, walk in closet, indulgent deep bath tub, and romantic indoor and outdoor showers.  The highlight was the light and airy conservatory which could be converted to an extra bedroom for those travelling with children. The incredible staff ensured we were right at home with thoughtful touches added to our room each day for the family. Our children were treated to special amenities, warm milk and cookies before bed, and even a nightly bedtime story. Our attentive butler was available at the touch of a button and assisted with everything from dining reservations and spa bookings to helping us explore the nearby sights and local markets.

We loved every minute of our stay and felt it was both a luxurious holiday and a step into the history of Chiang Mai for our family.  If you want to experience culture, five star grandeur, and local charm, we highly recommend 137 Pillars House who seamlessly present these elements in one stunning property.
