We were craving authentic Mexican cuisine while staying in Cancun’s famous Hotel Zone and was recommended La Buena as an ambient and delicious dining destination only a few minutes away. Located on the lagoon, the stylish and inviting restaurant boasts a romantic and intimate atmosphere, enticing menu, and impeccable service. We were excited by the many dishes we had never tried and were eager for the chef to recommend signature dishes and regional specialities.
Our mouthwatering feast started with a rich and decadent Flambee Cheese using a blend of Gouda and Asadero cheese topped with Valladolid Spicy Sausage and served with freshly made corn and flour tortillas which was a hit with the whole family. Even our children loved every bite. Their delicate and perfectly charred artichoke was flavourful and tender and we couldn’t get enough of the addictive Dry Noodles made with a traditional recipe with house spicy sausage served with jocose, a touch of olive oil and piquin chili.
The main courses were the stars of the show with generously portioned dishes ideal for sharing family style. Their crispy and juicy “Lechon Al Ataud” is a must order where the Suckling Pig is cooked for two hours in the oven with a house marinade, and the beautifully presented and the fall off the bone Rib-Eye Ribs were perfectly spiced and satisfyingly tender.
