PeruRail offers a once in a lifetime journey transporting you through spectacular scenery to the gateway of Machu Picchu. The incredible experience is perfect for luxury family travellers looking for an unforgettable journey during their trip to Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. We started our PeruRail expedition in the charming town of Ollantaytambo. From the stunning train station, surrounded by mountainous landscape and a vibrant river, we rode the Vistadome to Aguas Calientes, the pueblo which serves as the entrance to Machu Picchu. The Vistadome features a luxury carriage complete with comfortable and spacious leather seats, dining tables where you can relax and converse with your family, and panoramic windows enveloping you in the unique and stunning surroundings. We loved being able to immerse in the breathtaking landscapes throughout our ride, feeling right at the center of the verdant valleys and alluring river.
The friendly and accommodating staff ensured each guest was comfortable throughout the ride and informative audio pointed out iconic landmarks along the route. We were also served a nutritious, locally produced snack and coco tea which is well known in the region for battling altitude sickness. The cultural experience included a lively traditional dance, ambient music throughout the ride, and a captivating fashion presentation showcasing the popular styles of alpaca wool products available for purchase.
Not only did we have a smooth and enjoyable journey but PeruRail ensured the train ride was one of the highlights of our visit to the captivating region of Peru. Our children were interested and entertained throughout each ride and still talk about the unforgettable views. A perfect choice for families looking for comfort, luxury, and culture during their journey to Machu Picchu. PeruRail trains depart from Cusco and Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu daily.
