Equator Village, located in the southern region of the Maldives, is a picturesque and rustic resort perfect for a tropical getaway. We loved the kind and welcoming team, relaxed ambiance, and beautiful palm fringed beach. Our comfortable beachfront rooms featured a private outdoor space and were just steps from the crystal clear waters.
The natural resort has a true deserted island feel with tables and sun loungers beneath the palms, wooden swings overlooking the turquoise waters, spectacular sunsets, abundant marine life, and a refreshing lagoon style pool complete with swim up bar. We loved sampling local Maldivian dishes at Vaivaru Restaurant and enjoyed the all inclusive package which also included a daily afternoon tea and impressive list of cocktails and drinks.
If you want to see an authentic and traditional side to the Maldives, Equator Village is an optimal choice. Connected to a string of inhabited islands the knowledgeable team can arrange a wide array of day trips as well as snorkelling and diving. Grab a bike and tour the village or book a lunch with a local Maldivian family. We loved meeting our kind and hospitable hosts and were excited to sit down to a family meal, sampling many dishes for the first time.
A nearby nature park is perfect for those who wish to kayak through the mangroves and spot stingrays and turtles, and the fun and exciting dolphin cruise is a must if you are hoping to get a close up look of the majestic animals.
