Gangehi Island Resort is a picturesque hidden gem at the heart of the Maldives. The stunning island is just a short seaplane ride or 1.5 hour speedboat ride from Velana International Airport. As soon as we set foot on the jetty we were captivated by the clear turquoise waters and greeted by the friendly team.
We saw turtles, reef sharks, and an abundance of tropical fish on our walk to our villa and were charmed by the rustic and natural island. Our Deluxe Overwater Villa was perfect for a family of four. The spacious room boasted a large, open overwater deck, cozy bedroom with plenty of space for extra beds, and a refreshing outdoor bathroom. We loved dipping into the ocean straight from our villa and saw eagle rays, reef sharks, and parrot fish while snorkelling each morning.
Gangehi is a small island which can be traversed on foot. The idyllic beach is one of the most beautiful we’ve experienced with a long sand bank and endless blue views. We spent hours swimming in the house reef, kayaking through the shallow and clear waters, and enjoying the spectacular sunset from the relaxed bars.
We loved dining at Thari Restaurant each day with an ever changing buffet full of fresh fish and Italian and Maldivian specialities. The resort has an intimate and friendly feel where you are always greeted with a smile and welcomed as family. We love that the unspoilt island which felt like a slice of the real Maldives. A perfect choice for couples and families who crave tranquility and beauty in the Maldives.
