OMO7, located in buzzing Asahikawa, is an ideal option when visiting the popular Hokkaido city. We loved the historic facade and cozy entrance of the inviting property. We were instantly greeted by friendly staff and an array of interactive displays introducing all the area has to offer. After a quick and smooth check-in we grabbed our complimentary amenities and pyjamas before heading to our exciting themed room. As Asahikawa is known for the famous Asahiyama Zoo, OMO7 has rooms dedicated to the most popular animal residents at the zoo. We were lucky enough to stay in the fluffy polar bear room where every detail down to mugs, toothbrush holders, and bathmats were a tribute to the majestic animals.

After settling into our suite we headed downstairs to check-out OMO’s Go Kinjo Map. The playful map works using QR code and shows all the nearby eats and best local hot spots. You can also go on a complementary tour with an OMO Ranger who can guide you through the best neighbourhood eateries that aren’t easily found in a guidebook.  Asahikawa is a foodie haven with plenty to offer from sake bars and yakitori to craft beer and Genghis Khan. We tried one of the oldest ramen shops in town, explored Asahikawa’s iconic pedestrian street, and visited a little alley with Izakaya eateries that date back to WWII.

Don’t miss the culinary delights within the hotel including a mouthwatering breakfast buffet each morning featuring their famous tuna rice bowls and salmon waffles as well as the creative and delectable Shime Parfait each evening. Other facilities include a traditional onsen in their basement level, inviting and relaxing reading nook, games and social spaces on the Ground Floor, and a fully stocked gift shop complete with Hokkaido snacks and souvenirs to take home.

Our family loved the complimentary beverage service each evening where we could unwind after a day of sightseeing and the December Advent Calendar and Ramen Bowl Christmas Tree got us right into the festive spirit. A perfect choice for families looking for a personal and comfortable stay while visiting Asahiyama Zoo and Asahikawa.
