ZUI, located in the luxurious Chalet Ivy Jozankei, is a picturesque restaurant perfect for Japanese fine dining. We loved the intimate and private restaurant featuring floor to ceiling windows overlooking the stunning Jozankei scenery. Visiting in the winter meant we could admire a snow-filled backdrop while delighting in an exquisite kaiseki menu that changed daily. The talented Executive Chef made full use of Hokkaido’s premium ingredients creating delicate and detailed dishes that will sure delight the discerning diner. Highlights from our dinners included the tender Wagyu Beef and Persimmon, rich and decadent Hamaguri Clam with Sea Urchin and Caviar, the fragrant Ezo Abalone with Mushroom and Truffle, and the “Hokki Surf Clam” Soup with Seaweed. We dined as a family and the amazing team created mouth-watering kids plates for the little ones full of local produce and delicious healthy fare. A must dine spot if you’re visiting the Jozankei area and want a true taste of Hokkaido fine dining.
