Sapporo has always been one of our favourite cities to visit in Japan and there’s no better time than the winter months to discover the vibrant streets and culture.
Wyndham Garden Sapporo Odori is set at the centre of the city, close to plenty of mouthwatering eats, tax free shopping options, family friendly activities and so much more. We loved the modern and sleek guest rooms and welcoming lobby area which served as a cozy space when we needed to warm up between sightseeing spots. Complimentary coffee, hot cocoa, and soft serve ice cream for hotel guests were a true treat and we also enjoyed a nightly happy hour drink at the inviting bar.
The staff were consistently on hand to assist with local tips, help make reservations, and ensure we had the correct transportation. Some of our favourite activities were strolling through snowy Odori Park, visiting the buzzing Nijo Market to see all the fresh seafood, taking a day trip to the AOAO Aquarium, and delving into endless ramen bowls, conveyor belt sushi, and warming shabu shabu.
Don’t forget to check out the nearby ski slopes to experience Hokkaido’s world famous powder snow. Wyndham’s staff are available to suggest the best options for your requirements whether you’re an advanced skier or need beginner lessons for your little ones. Wyndham Garden’s buffet breakfast was another highlight of our stay and a great opportunity to sample a traditional Japanese breakfast. There are also western options and freshly baked pastries to enjoy beside the snow-filled window-side.
