The iconic Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh is a well loved landmark on Princes Street dating back to 1903. Known as The Caledonian, the five star property boasts some of the most luxurious guest rooms in the city, impeccable world class service, and luxury amenities sure to please the discerning traveller.
We loved the historic building with grand stairwells, stained glass windows, and beautiful dining rooms. Our decadent two bedroom suite was perfect for a family of four boasting two large en-suite bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a cozy separate lounge and dining table. The highlight was the uninterrupted view of Edinburgh Castle which could be seen from every window in the suite.
Waldorf Astoria is situated at the heart of Edinburgh and a short walk to many of the city’s most famous landmarks. We enjoyed exploring buzzing Victoria Street, picturesque Dean Village, and sunny walks beside Ross Fountain. After a morning of sightseeing we couldn’t resist sampling the indulgent “Once upon a time” themed afternoon tea. It was the ideal treat for the whole family and our children couldn’t resist the caricature cakes and fluffy scones. We loved indulging in all the traditional Scottish specialities at breakfast each morning and highly recommend booking dinner at Grazing for an unforgettable fine dining experience.
The hotel also features a refreshing indoor pool and spa which was a welcome respite at the end of the day. Service was impeccable at The Caledonian, from the moment we arrive at the revolving door entrance to the turn down service each evening and the helpful assistance consistently offered at reception.
