Gili Lankanfushi, a luxury castaway island located in the Maldives, is our family’s favourite spot for an idyllic getaway. The stunning five star resort is located just a short boat ride from Male’s international airport but transports you miles from reality. As soon as the boat pulls up into the crystal clear waters you’ll spot an abundance of marine life, pristine white sand beaches, and their iconic overwater villas.
Our family of four stayed at one of the Crusoe Residences, a collection of stand alone overwater villas only accessible by boat. We loved the sprawling accommodation boasting a romantic master bedroom, separate lounge leading onto a rustic overwater deck, and easy steps straight into the turquoise clear ocean. The bathroom boasts one of the most picturesque bathtubs we’ve seen and we couldn’t get enough of the overwater shower and upper deck where you can sleep under the stars. Gili’s unique design is rustic meets luxury ensuring each guest is staying in five star luxury while captivated by the natural surroundings and unparalleled tranquility.
Every detail of the island is well thought out ensuring every guest has a personalised and memorable stay. Each villa has access to their own Mr.Friday, a personal butler who is available 24 hours a day at the touch of a button. We loved having the picturesque main swimming pool, cycling around the natural island, snorkelling along the vibrant house reef, and indulging in world class spa treatments at the overwater spa.
Dining is always a huge highlight of our stay from a mouthwatering Antalya Culinary Journey to an Asian Street Food market, and leisurely lunches at the scenic overwater restaurant. A huge highlight of our stay was the special experiences set up by the amazing team. We enjoyed a romantic sunset experience on a private Castaway Platform sipping crisp white wine and watching the sun melt into the horizon. Our family of four also loved the Jungle Cinema experience where we delved into a gourmet feast while indulging in a lighthearted film underneath the stars.
