Dining at Michelin Green Starred Alcanfor in Buenos Aires was one of those rare experiences that felt both intimate and unforgettable. Tucked into a quiet corner of the city, the restaurant offers a calm, stylish atmosphere with moody lighting, natural textures, and an open kitchen that sets the tone for something special. From start to finish, every dish reflected the talent and creativity of Chef Julian Galende and his team.
We began with Brussels sprouts that were crispy and deeply flavorful. The barbecued leeks came next, served with garlic purée, almonds, and a seaweed sauce that was earthy, nutty, and unlike anything we had tasted before. The prawns were perfectly cooked, paired with sautéed cabbage, avocado purée, and a bright, punchy kimchi mayonnaise.
The catch of the day arrived pan fried, resting on a bed of glazed pak choi and finished with a citrus and miso beurre blanc. It was fresh and balanced, with a subtle complexity that lingered. The chicken breast was tender and beautifully presented with roasted pumpkin, spicy greens, and a delicate orange gastric.
Our final savoury dish was lamb, served with a fennel and grape salad, grilled quinces, yogurt, and a rich demi-glace that tied every bite together.
The wine list was exceptional and the service was warm, knowledgeable, and never overbearing. Every detail felt thoughtful and personal.
Alcanfor delivers a refined yet approachable dining experience where each plate tells a story. We left inspired, satisfied, and already planning to return.
