Tucked away in a quiet Recoleta passage, Bis Bistró is a gem you might even want to keep to yourself. With sleek, stylish interiors, think 1950s‑style bistro charm, high ceilings, globe lamps, long banquettes, mirrored walls and a glass‑front kitchen, it sets the mood beautifully for an unforgettable date‑night or relaxed evening out.
At the helm here is Chef Gonzalo Aramburu, known for his signature contemporary Argentine cuisine and also leading the acclaimed Aramburu restaurant just across the way. Under his creative direction, Bis Bistro offers a refined à‑la‑carte menu blending classic flavours with inventive touches.
We began our meal sharing sardines and squid, brilliantly fresh and elegantly plated. The sweetbreads were unforgettable, crispy gold outside, tender inside, perfectly balanced in richness and acidity. For mains, the rib‑eye steak was Argentine beef at its best, expertly seared, juicy, seasoned just right.
Cocktails here deserve their own applause, thoughtful, balanced and delicious. Wine complemented each dish so well that we lingered long into the evening, soaking up the atmosphere and sleek surroundings.
Service at Bis was exceptional, attentive without being intrusive, polished yet relaxed. From the tucked‑away location to the flawless execution of both kitchen and bar, Bis Bistró, under Aramburu’s vision, delivers a refined yet unpretentious dining experience. Definitely a top pick for special evenings in Buenos Aires.
