Velassaru is a picture-perfect Maldivian paradise that beautifully combines barefoot luxury with warm, genuine hospitality, making it an ideal destination for a memorable family holiday. The resort is conveniently located just a short and scenic speedboat ride from Malé International Airport, which makes arriving effortless and exciting. From the moment we stepped onto the island, we were captivated by its natural beauty, with crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft white sand beaches, and lush tropical greenery. Our overwater villa was absolutely stunning, offering direct access to the lagoon, breathtaking ocean views, and complete tranquility. Every sunrise and sunset felt like a private moment in paradise.
Days at Velassaru were filled with adventure and relaxation in perfect balance. The island’s vibrant house reef was teeming with marine life, and snorkeling just steps from the beach revealed colorful corals and tropical fish in abundance. One of the highlights of our stay was the nurse shark snorkel excursion, where we swam alongside graceful stingrays and gentle nurse sharks in the open ocean. We also loved learning about the coral adaptation program, which showed the resort’s dedication to protecting and nurturing the surrounding marine ecosystem. Between activities, we spent blissful hours by the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean, enjoying its serene atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. Evenings were best spent at Chill Bar, watching the sun melt into the horizon while sipping refreshing cocktails and listening to the sound of the waves.
Velassaru’s dine-around all-inclusive plan was one of the best we have experienced, allowing us to explore a range of incredible dining options across the island. At Sand Restaurant, we indulged in an elegant beachfront grill experience with fine dining flair and impeccable service. Etesian offered sophisticated Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in a romantic and stylish setting. Vela, the main buffet restaurant, impressed with themed dinners and an exceptional breakfast featuring both local and international dishes. Turquoise became our go-to for laid-back lunches by the beach, serving delicious seafood, sandwiches, and local favorites.
