Ciao by Fratelli Pennisi Macelleria Sicilia at Palais de Chine, Taipei is a warm slice of Italy nestled in the city’s heart, where rustic flavors meet elegant presentation. Our evening began with Pennisi Brothers Fennel Orange Salad, a refreshing balance of citrus brightness and aniseed crunch, setting the tone for a meal that danced between boldness and finesse. The Antipasto Platter followed, a generous spread of cured meats, cheeses, and marinated vegetables that captured the convivial spirit of an Italian aperitivo hour.
The Beef Liver was an unexpected delight, tender, earthy, and uplifted by the herbaceous punch of Chimichurri. Alongside, Sausages and Chicken Skewers it brought smoky, char-grilled depth, each bite seasoned perfectly and paired beautifully with a glass of red.
For pasta, the Mezze Maniche in creamy Parmesan sauce was comfort in its purest form, rich, silky, and unapologetically indulgent. But the showstopper was the Grilled Italian T-bone Steak, served with the perfect sear and a juicy interior that reminded us why simplicity, when done right, is luxury itself.
Dessert was pure joy, a selection of Sicilian Cannoli filled with ricotta, chocolate mousse, and vanilla custard, offering a crisp shell and a luscious, sweet finish.
From start to finish, Ciao delivered an experience both authentic and refined. It is a place where every dish tells a story of tradition, passion, and modern Italian craftsmanship, a must-visit for anyone craving la dolce vita in Taipei.
