Located within Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Keyakizaka offers a polished teppanyaki experience that blends culinary theatre with thoughtful craftsmanship. Dining at the counter, we were looked after by a highly skilled teppanyaki chef, whose precision and relaxed confidence set the tone for an engaging and memorable evening.

Our meal began with a sweet fruit tomato, lightly cooked on the teppan and paired with pancetta and basil. Simple yet elegant, it highlighted Keyakizaka’s ability to elevate quality ingredients through careful technique. This was followed by Hokkaido scallops, expertly seared to achieve a delicate caramelisation while retaining their natural sweetness.

A course of sea bream and seasonal vegetables in papillote came next, gently steamed and finished with a subtle truffle broth. The flavours were clean and restrained, providing a lighter interlude before the richer dishes to follow.

The star of the evening was undoubtedly the beef. Keyakizaka’s signature Tokyo Akigawa sirloin and tenderloin, known as Keyakizaka Beef, is produced in collaboration with Takeuchi Farm in Akiruno, Tokyo’s only cattle farm. Raised on a unique superfood-based diet, the beef boasts exceptional marbling and depth of flavour. Cooked with absolute precision on the teppan, each bite was meltingly tender and deeply satisfying.

Complementing the food is a varied wine list, offering both Old and New World selections that pair seamlessly with seafood and richly marbled beef alike, an often overlooked but welcome highlight of the experience.

Dessert was a playful strawberry flambée served warm with vanilla ice cream, bringing the meal to a refined yet joyful close.

With its premium ingredients, attentive service and chef driven performance, Keyakizaka stands out as one of Tokyo’s most rewarding teppanyaki destinations.
