Set inside Grand Hyatt Tokyo, The Oak Door is a modern steakhouse with an easygoing charm that makes it feel instantly welcoming. The space is warm and stylish without being stuffy, and the open kitchen adds a lively energy to the room. It is also refreshingly family friendly, with a kids menu and an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.

We kicked things off with a fruit tomato paired with organic sweet onion. Light, fresh and naturally sweet, it was a great way to start. The king crab cakes came next and were a real standout, generously packed with crab and full of flavour, with no unnecessary fillers getting in the way.

Seafood lovers will want to save room for the Atlantic Lobster, simply prepared and served with herb butter. Sweet, tender and perfectly cooked, it let the quality of the lobster do all the talking. Throughout the meal, the service was excellent, friendly, attentive and well paced without ever feeling intrusive.

For the main event, we chose the Hokkaido F1 Tenderloin. Cooked exactly as requested, it was beautifully tender and rich, showing why The Oak Door has such a strong reputation for its steaks. The restaurant also offers a varied wine list, with plenty of international options that work well with both seafood and red meat, and the team is happy to help with pairings.

Dessert was a comforting baked cheesecake, creamy and not overly sweet, a classic done well and a satisfying way to end the meal.

With its relaxed vibe, reliable cooking and thoughtful hospitality, The Oak Door is the kind of place you can return to again and again, whether you are dining with family or enjoying a laid back night out in Tokyo.
