Dinner on our second evening at Chalet Ivy Weiss was a cozy and memorable family affair. We were seated in a comfortable booth, the perfect setting for our family, with snowy views stretching beyond the windows. The service was impeccable, attentive yet unobtrusive, adding to the warm and inviting atmosphere.
For the adults, the course menu was a showcase of Hokkaido’s finest ingredients. We began with a refreshing mackerel salad, bright and flavorful, followed by a delicate crab Shinjo soup, light yet deeply savory. The sashimi plate was simple but fresh, highlighting the quality of each piece. Small shiitake tarts were a delightful surprise, perfectly delicate and earthy, leading into the star of the meal, a tender grilled Hokkaido beef steak, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. The meal concluded beautifully with a fragrant eel rice pot, comforting and aromatic.
For our children, the staff were happy to tweak the menu to suit their preferences. Our daughter enjoyed a vibrant ikura salmon bowl, the salmon roe popping with freshness, while our son delighted in a juicy, perfectly cooked burger. It was a rare treat to find a dining experience that catered to both refined adult tastes and the simple pleasures that make kids happy.
