Jamie Oliver Cookery School

We are always looking for fun experiences to enjoy together in London, and our mother-daughter afternoon at the Jamie Oliver Cookery School turned out to be one of our favourites. Located on the third floor of John Lewis Oxford Street, the colourful cookery school has been designed around hands-on learning, creativity and, most importantly, having fun in the kitchen.

We joined the Kids Learn for Free: Unbeatable Filled Pasta class, a two-hour parent-and-child experience designed for children aged eight and above. Working together at our own cooking station, we learned how to make fresh pasta dough from scratch before rolling it into thin sheets and turning it into beautifully filled pasta. The class also covers seasonal fillings, pasta shapes including ravioli and tortellini, and a simple sauce to finish the dish.

Our instructor was incredibly engaging and made every stage feel approachable. Demonstrations were clear and easy to follow, and the atmosphere was wonderfully child friendly without making the experience feel like a children’s cooking class. We both felt completely involved from beginning to end.

The best part was discovering just how achievable fresh pasta can be. We picked up techniques and tips we will definitely be taking home with us, and the finished flavours were absolutely delicious.

After all our hard work, we sat down together at the chef’s table to enjoy the pasta we had made ourselves, turning the end of the class into a very satisfying lunch.

More than just a cookery lesson, it was such a fun bonding experience and a brilliant alternative mother-daughter day out in London. We left full, happy and already talking about what we could cook together next.
