Dining Room

The Ivy has long been one of our favourite restaurant groups in the UK, and over the years we’ve enjoyed dining at several of its beautiful locations. No matter which branch we visit, there is always a reassuring sense of consistency, from the polished service to the stylish interiors and carefully curated menus. Nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, The Ivy Market Grill was no exception. Its prime location makes it an ideal stop after a day exploring London’s West End, while the spacious outdoor terrace is perfect for people watching over a leisurely lunch or evening drinks. Inside, the restaurant is every bit as inviting, with elegant décor, vibrant artwork and a warm, bustling atmosphere that keeps us coming back time and time again.
We began with two classic starters. The Potted Shrimp, served with seasoned butter, dill-pickled cucumber and granary toast, was rich yet beautifully balanced, with the sharpness of the pickles cutting through the buttery sweetness of the shrimp. The Ivy Cure Severn and Wye Smoked Salmon was another excellent choice, allowing the quality of the salmon to shine alongside cracked black pepper, fresh lemon and slices of dark rye.
For mains, the Scottish Smoked Haddock and Salmon Fishcake was wonderfully comforting, with generous flakes of fish beneath a perfectly crisp exterior. Topped with a poached free-range egg and served with a vibrant crushed pea and herb sauce, it was a beautifully balanced dish full of fresh flavours. The Centre-cut 6oz Fillet Steak was cooked exactly as requested, showcasing tender, flavourful beef with simple, confident execution.
To finish, the Salted Caramel Chocolate Truffles were the perfect sweet finale. Each bite revealed a smooth liquid caramel centre, creating an indulgent treat that was impossible to resist.
Alongside the food, The Ivy continues to impress with its excellent cocktail menu and thoughtfully curated wine list, making it just as appealing for drinks as it is for a full meal. Combined with attentive, personable service and one of Covent Garden’s most desirable settings, The Ivy Market Grill is another reminder of why this remains one of our favourite restaurant brands in the UK.
