Breakfast at Gili Lankanfushi is easily one of the best breakfast buffets we have experienced in the Maldives. Served in a stunning beachfront setting beneath the palms, mornings here are wonderfully relaxed, with tables overlooking the sand and ocean and an extraordinary selection that goes far beyond the usual resort breakfast.
The buffet itself is beautifully presented and impressively varied. There are colourful fresh salads and charcuterie, alongside sushi and sashimi, a dedicated Maldivian selection and an enticing display of creative and classic pastries. Even homemade chocolates make an appearance, adding a particularly indulgent touch to the morning spread.
One of the biggest hits with Ever was the made-to-order Nutella crêpe station. Prepared fresh in front of you, they reminded us of the little crêpe stalls in Paris and inevitably became part of her morning breakfast routine.
Alongside the buffet is an extensive à la carte menu with dishes spanning both Asian and Western favourites. Choices range from Chinese congee and comforting noodle soups to a healthy vegan tofu scramble or a perfectly executed classic Eggs Benedict. A long list of fresh health elixirs and juices adds another layer to the experience, while artisanal coffee is prepared to order.
It is the sheer choice, quality and attention to detail that makes breakfast at Gili Lankanfushi stand out. Whether starting the day with sashimi and a fresh juice or lingering over coffee, pastries and Nutella crêpes beneath the palms, breakfast here feels like an experience in itself.
