We began with Fathu Mashuni, a fresh take on the traditional Maldivian mixture of coconut and local greens, followed by Havaadhulee Bis, small curried tuna dumplings packed with spice and flavour. The Kulhi Riha, a fragrant spiced chicken curry, was rich and comforting, showcasing the depth of flavour found in traditional Maldivian cooking.

From the grill, king prawns were another highlight, beautifully cooked and allowing the natural sweetness of the seafood to take centre stage. The dishes throughout dinner felt rooted in tradition without being overly heavy, with thoughtful presentation giving familiar island flavours a more refined finish.

What makes Guduguda particularly special is the combination of authentic Maldivian cooking with such a beautiful overwater setting. Rather than simply incorporating a few local dishes into an international menu, the restaurant places Maldivian cuisine firmly at the centre of the experience.
