Maakana Restaurant at Diamonds Thudufushi takes the traditional resort buffet to an entirely different level, offering an exceptional dining experience where quality, variety and freshly prepared cuisine are at the heart of every meal. With its relaxed island atmosphere, impeccable service and impressive selection of wines and beverages, it quickly became one of our favourite dining experiences in the Maldives.

The extensive buffet showcases an enticing selection of international favourites and authentic Italian specialities, beginning with a beautifully presented salad bar alongside premium Italian cured hams and cheeses. The live grill station is another highlight, where freshly caught reef fish, tender steaks and succulent chicken are expertly grilled to order. An ever-changing selection of main courses adds further variety, with many dishes prepared fresh upon request.

Italian cuisine is particularly outstanding, especially the incredible pasta station featuring handmade pastas paired with freshly prepared sauces. The pizzas are equally impressive, easily ranking among the best we have enjoyed in the Maldives, with delicious toppings and beautifully executed crusts. Dessert lovers are equally spoiled, with abundant displays of freshly baked cakes, indulgent sweet creations and an irresistible selection of ice creams that changes daily.

Breakfast is another memorable affair, featuring eggs cooked to order, traditional Sri Lankan hoppers and delicious Maldivian specialities alongside an extensive international selection.

What truly distinguishes Maakana is the gourmet attention to detail evident throughout every meal. The culinary team clearly takes immense pride in the quality of its ingredients and preparation, while the warm, attentive service makes every visit feel personal. Staff remembered our family throughout our stay, and the chefs even recognised our daughter immediately, thoughtfully preparing and bringing her favourite dishes without being asked. It is this combination of exceptional food, genuine hospitality and effortless island dining that makes Maakana such a standout.
