Hotel Victoria Nuremberg is exactly the kind of boutique city hotel we love discovering on a family trip. Set right at the entrance to Nuremberg’s historic Old Town, this privately run hotel combines more than a century of history with bright, contemporary interiors, thoughtful amenities and some of the warmest service we experienced during our time in Germany.
We stayed in one of the spacious family rooms, which comfortably accommodates four and felt particularly well designed for travelling with children. Our room had been modernly refurbished, with plenty of space to settle in, comfortable beds and a generous bathroom. Best of all were the views towards Nuremberg’s historic Old Town, immediately giving us a sense of place each time we looked out of the window. Air conditioning throughout the hotel was also very welcome during our summer stay, especially with temperatures soaring outside.
Location is one of Hotel Victoria’s biggest advantages. The hotel sits beside the charming Handwerkerhof and historic Königstor, with the pedestrian streets of the Old Town beginning almost outside the door. Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof is just across the road, making arrival incredibly easy and putting the hotel in a convenient position for day trips as well as sightseeing.
Breakfast is included with every stay and is served as a generous European-style buffet. There was a great selection of breads and pastries alongside regional cheeses and cold cuts, fresh fruit, cereals, homemade jams and cakes. Eggs were cooked fresh to order, and coffee was also made to order, which elevated the experience beyond a typical hotel buffet. It was an easy, relaxed start to the morning before heading out to explore the city.
It was the smaller touches that made Hotel Victoria especially memorable for our family. Filtered water was readily available, while complimentary ice cream was an instant hit with the children. Service throughout our stay was exceptional, genuinely warm, personal and eager to help without ever feeling formal.
Hotel Victoria manages to retain the character and intimacy of an independent boutique hotel while offering everything a family needs for a comfortable city break. Modern rooms, thoughtful extras, wonderful staff and an unbeatable Old Town location made it a perfect base for our stay in Nuremberg.
