Tucked inside The Hari in Belgravia, il Pampero brings a polished take on classic Italian dining to one of London’s most elegant neighbourhoods. The restaurant has plenty of personality, with rich green leather, warm lighting and a lively kitchen creating an atmosphere that feels glamorous without being overly formal. It was exactly the kind of place we wanted for a long, indulgent dinner during our stay at The Hari.

We started with Zucchine Fritte, thin, crispy fried courgettes that disappeared almost immediately, alongside Calamari Fritti with red chilli, spring onion and a creamy lemon aioli. Grilled Gamberi were plump and juicy, simply dressed with garlic, chilli and parsley, while the Fiori di Zucchina Ripieni offered something a little more delicate. The courgette flowers were filled with vegan cheese and paired with broad beans, peas and mint, giving the dish a fresh, summery finish.

The highlight was undoubtedly the Pici Cacio e Pepe. Thick, satisfyingly chewy strands of pici arrived at the table before being tossed tableside inside a huge Pecorino cheese wheel. Rich Pecorino and plenty of cracked black pepper coated every strand, resulting in an incredibly creamy, comforting pasta and plenty of theatre along the way.

For our main, we shared the Tagliata di Manzo, tender slices of beef steak served with wild rocket, Parmesan and a sweet, sharp balsamic glaze. Simple Italian flavours and good quality ingredients made it an ideal dish to follow the richer pasta.

Dessert brought another tableside moment with il Pampero’s Tiramisu. Layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream were assembled and served in front of us, finishing dinner on a suitably indulgent note.

With attentive service, a buzzy yet sophisticated atmosphere and generous Italian cooking, il Pampero is a great dining option in Belgravia, whether you are staying upstairs at The Hari or simply looking for a stylish Italian dinner in the neighbourhood.
