Tucked inside Great Scotland Yard Hotel in the heart of Westminster, The Parlour is an intimate all day dining room that combines modern British cooking with the playful sense of history found throughout the property. The hotel describes it as an elegant space designed for lingering, and the interiors certainly encourage you to settle in, with plush seating, rich colours, patterned fabrics and an eclectic collection of artwork and decorative details. There is an old world opulence to the room, balanced by a quirky British character that feels entirely at home within Great Scotland Yard.
We started with House Smoked Cod’s Roe, a silky, savoury dip served alongside wonderfully crisp potatoes, before moving onto beautifully fresh Cooley Gold Oysters. Pan Fried Orkney Hand Dived Scallops were another highlight, perfectly caramelised and paired with heritage curried carrot purée, Eric Roy carrots and tarragon. The gentle warmth of the curry complemented the sweetness of the scallops without overpowering them.
For mains, Cornish Cod was delicate and flaky, accompanied by a deeply savoury anchovy sauce, broccoli purée and purple sprouting stems. The centrepiece of our meal, however, was the impressive Westholme Tomahawk. Cooked beautifully and served with vibrant chimichurri, it was a generous dish made for sharing and a satisfying contrast to the lighter seafood courses.
Dessert brought two classics. The New York Style Cheesecake was rich, creamy and comforting, while the Great Scotland Yard Chocolate Mousse delivered an indulgent finale for chocolate lovers.
Service throughout was warm, polished and attentive without ever feeling overly formal. The Parlour may be particularly known for its signature British afternoon tea, but its refined all day dining makes it equally appealing for an intimate dinner in Westminster.
