Kula is the main buffet restaurant at The Standard Maldives, offering an impressive variety of international flavours in a relaxed setting. With the selection changing from meal to meal and a series of themed evenings throughout the week, there is always something different to discover, making it an especially good option during a longer resort stay.

The buffet spans cuisines from around the world, complemented by live cooking stations where dishes are prepared to order. Wok and noodle stations bring plenty of Asian flavours to the selection, while freshly baked pizzas emerge straight from the oven throughout service. A pasta station allows guests to choose their preferred combinations, alongside salads, grilled dishes, curries, sides and an extensive dessert selection.

Themed evenings add even more variety. Depending on the night, the buffet might feature generous displays of seafood and sushi alongside Maldivian specialities, giving guests the opportunity to sample local flavours as part of the wider international offering. The constantly changing selection also makes Kula particularly family-friendly, with plenty of choice for both adventurous eaters and those looking for something familiar.

What stood out most during our visits, however, was the team. The service is exceptionally warm and personal, with staff remembering our family as well as our individual preferences. It transforms what could simply be a large resort buffet into a much more welcoming and personalised dining experience.

The drinks offering is equally impressive, with a well-chosen wine list complementing the food. Champagne is even included within The Standard Maldives’ all-inclusive offering, making dinner feel that little bit more indulgent.

With its ever-changing selection, live cooking stations, themed evenings and genuinely memorable service, Kula is a buffet restaurant we were always happy to return to.
