We are obsessed with America’s food truck culture here at Hungry Hong Kong, so were very excited to hear the concept had come to HK. Chef Austin may not have an actual food truck on the street, but Boomshack’s fun and open venue, serving up casual food in an innovative style, is just what just what we were hoping we would find. We loved their juicy and flavourful square burgers and recommend the simple vintage burger showing the quality of their house ground beef, and the innovative “Texmexican” burger with Chipotle Mayo, Quinoa Manchego, Chili Rellano, Provolone and Salsa Verde. Their tacos are all delicious and served on fresh, home made flour tortillas with generous quality toppings. Favourites were the tender, melt in your mouth “The Roundshack Short Rib” Taco using 12 hour smoked short rib, salsa verde and three cheese blend, the “I Am Lamb” Taco using Saddle Lamb, Harissa, Pickled Cucumber, Fennel and Yogurt, and the light and refreshing “Kungfu Fish” Taco with Pan-Seared White Fish, Curry Sesame Dressing, Sambol Avocado and Orange & Mango. There are also plenty of veggie heavy, healthier options on the menu. The refreshing and crispy Kale & Quinoa Salad was full of flavour and crunch and we could never resist an order of those addictive Beet Fries. Don’t miss out on their Chips and Salsa which come with Guacamole, Salsa Fresca and an incredibly delicious and addictive White Queso, and pair it with one of their unique craft beers, the Fat Tire Amber Ale being our favourite, or a lethal and delicious frozen margarita. A definite Hungry Hong Kong favourite and ideal for both quick lunches, fun dinners with friends, or just a few drinks and snacks after work. We look forward to returning very soon!
