Rech by Alain Ducasse has newly opened in the grand InterContinental Hong Kong and it is the famous Parisian seafood restaurant’s first international outpost. Set in the former location of Spoon by Alain Ducasse, the newly renovated space is light, chic and welcoming. The goal of Rech is to give the diner an authentic French seafood experience with most of it’s fish and shellfish being imported from Europe. Heading up the kitchen is Chef Stefan Gortina, who has been working with Alain Ducasse for over 11 years and previously headed the kitchen at Spoon. We visited for the first time during their Sunday Lunch which is a tempting collection of “The Best of Rech” and is paired with wine by the Head Sommelier. We loved starting with the fresh Oysters and their selection of light appetizers including Sea Bream Tartare and Langoustine Broth, which was followed by a fragrant and uniquely textured Cockpot of Tiny Spelt with Squid and Sesame Seeds. For the main courses we were served their fresh and delicate Wild Cod Ailoli and the delicious Duck with Mango which was perfectly cooked. The menu ends with their famous Camembert Cheese and a selection of amazing Paris-Parisienne Pastries. Each dish is created with exquisite precision, vibrant and fresh flavours, and gave us a true taste of France. The intimate and elegant space boasting beautiful Hong Kong Harbour views was a welcome addition to a delicious and enjoyable dining experience.
