We are definitely big fans of Sichuan’s delicious spicy cuisine here at Hungry HK, so were very excited to hear one of the citiest most popular Sichuan spots was expanding to their second, larger location. Chilli Fagara‘s new location on Old Bailey Street is spacious, chic, and perfect for bigger parties. We love their extensive menu of traditional dishes which separates into three sections titled “ma” “la” and “tang”. You are directed to different aspects of Sichuan spice from the numbing “ma” variety to the firey “la” recipes, and the non spicy “tang” selection. We started with their signature Crisp-Fried Crab with Sichuan peppercorn packing plenty of kick and towering high with delicious fresh crab. Other spicy favourites from the a la carte menu included their mouth numbing Deboned Mandarin Fish in a spice-infused-broth and the addictive Shredded Beef stir-fried until infused with a fiery chilli sauce. If your looking for a non spicy addition to your meal order off the “tang” section of the menu and don’t miss their succulent and crispy mutton slow-cooked and fried until crisp with garlic and Chinese parsley sauce. We were also able to try a couple of dishes from their upcoming 10th Anniversary menu and loved the and fresh okra stir-fried Sichuan style with minced pork, garlic and fiery chilli oil, and the traditional Szechuan Mapo Tofu in a rich sauce flavoured with pieces of slow-cured Chinese Jinhua ham. We throughly enjoyed every bite and were impressed with the great pairing of the Bernkastel/Mosel Dr. Loosen Dry Riesling with our meal. A perfect dinner spot for sharing with friends and all spicy food lovers. We can’t wait to return and feast on more of their mouthwatering menu.
