As part of the Family Getaway Package at SALA Phuket we were able to visit the beautiful and exciting Phuket Nature Reserve for the ideal day out our kids. The picturesque elephant sanctuary is home to two friendly elephants saved from a riding attraction in Patong. Not only did we have the opportunity to meet and interact with these incredible animals but we learned so much about captive elephants, the dangers of elephant shows, and how to care and feed the animals. The interactive day included feedings, watching them bathe, a hike alongside the elephants, and also preparing their food. We were treated to a traditional Thai vegetarian lunch while enjoying views of the surrounding jungle, and loved every minute of our time with the knowledgeable staff and friendly elephants. A must do when visiting Phuket and a great way to support the sanctuary in saving more elephants from harmful attractions.
