Summer Island Maldives is one of the most stunning tropical islands we’ve ever visited. The beautiful Maldives resort boasts powdery white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, beautiful flora and fauna, and an abundant house reef which surrounds the entire island. We love the rustic barefoot luxury vibes, friendly staff, and intimate feel.

We stayed in a Premium Beach Villa which was comfortable and modern, perfect for couples or small families with direct access to the idyllic beach. Our days were spent snorkelling and exploring the reef, lazing in the stunning infinity pool, or kayaking and paddle boarding around the relaxing island. You can walk out far in the shallow clear water and we found it easy to spot baby sharks, stingrays, and an abundance of tropical fish.

Dining options range from the delicious International buffet at Samuga to gourmet overwater dining at Hiya, and even Beach BBQ evenings where the chefs grill fresh seafood, steaks, and veggies in a lively beach setting. Make sure to book a private dining experience to celebrate a special occasion and visit Nevi Bar for live music and epic sunsets.

The resort also offers a wide range of excursions from dolphin cruises and snorkelling to diving courses. If you’re craving a resort that looks straight out of a postcard, unbeatable Maldivian hospitality, and intimate tropical island vibes we highly recommend Summer Island.

We love resorts that value the environment and Summer Island’s eco initiatives can be seen throughout the guest rooms, coral reef, resort, and community. They have completely eliminated the use of single use plastics, hot water is powered by solar energy, and they even upcycle old sheets and uniforms as plastic bag replacements. Instead of fogging or fumigating with chemicals they have even found an eco way to minimise mosquitos on the island. In 2018 the resort also installed the world’s largest 3D printed coral reef at the Blue Lagoon right off the arrival jetty. This has helped rehabilitate corals which were damaged due to climate change and ensure they still house a vibrant and healthy house reef. The calm ocean and quiet setting is great for families and young swimmers.
